I'm Jess. I live in Charleston, WV. I am a nurse on a neurological floor. I mostly care for older people that have had strokes or have other problems with their noggins. Some seizures, head trauma and spinal surgery too. Lately it's also been the satellite psych ward. I work night shift, so it's even more fun since the real crazies come out at night.

Those were the days

This morning I started watching John Carpenter’s ‘Vampires’. Some of the acting leaves something to be desired and we’ve done a lot to improve special effects in the last 10+ years, though they’re not terrible (I really enjoy the practical stuff when it comes to gory monster movies). Though, as with most older movies (this one is circa 1998), I always note gas prices. $1.21 for Premium and $1.33 for diesel! I’m sure back then they were still bitching. “Over $1 for unleaded! This is fucking ridiculous!” Haha. If we only knew. I haven’t seen gas under $2 in I don’t know how long. I know it still was when I first started driving back in 2000. Oh, if only it still was so. Hell, I’m happy that we’re back under $4, how sad.
