I don't sleep at night... no biggie.

If we were to wake up some morning and find that everyone was the same race, creed and color, we would find some other cause for prejudice by noon. ~ George Aiken

Sad, but most likely true. People love to hate.

I'm Jess. I live in Charleston, WV. I am a nurse on a neurological floor. I mostly care for older people that have had strokes or have other problems with their noggins. Some seizures, head trauma and spinal surgery too. Lately it's also been the satellite psych ward. I work night shift, so it's even more fun since the real crazies come out at night.

Bald Spot

As I’ve mentioned before, I work on a neuro unit, so we regularly get patients on our floor that have had brain surgery. When someone has brain surgery it’s usually on only one specific area, so prior to surgery they only clip/shave the hair on one spot… leaving a nice bald spot with a wound in the middle. Nothing too strange there, makes sense, right? The weird part is that when the patient comes to us from surgery, they arrive with a plastic baggie that contains the hair that had been shaved off. It’s rather creepy. I don’t know what they think the patient is going to do with the shorn off hair, glue it back to their bald spot? Create a tiny toupee? Some people attach them to the chart, but I don’t care to look at it every time I open the chart, so I usually put it in the patient’s closet.
