I'm Jess. I live in Charleston, WV. I am a nurse on a neurological floor. I mostly care for older people that have had strokes or have other problems with their noggins. Some seizures, head trauma and spinal surgery too. Lately it's also been the satellite psych ward. I work night shift, so it's even more fun since the real crazies come out at night.

Tattoo 2

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been thinking a lot about getting new tattoos. One of my new ideas is a branch on the left side of my back (on/above my shoulder blade) that will connect to a tree on my left arm that will be the main part of my future half-sleeve. Here’s my first draft.

I sketched it myself, so it’s not the greatest. It’s also backwards because I took a picture of it with the camera on my iMac. I’ll have the final draft drawn by a real artist and it will be shaded a night scene in the background, maybe with a moon behind the owls. I’m still not sure about the shape of the owl bodies, I’m thinking I might prefer separate heads and bodies, with necks. Much more research to be done.

Over the last week or so I’ve been looking at all the old posts of the tumblr fuckyeahtattoos and I’ve discovered a few things. A fuck-ton of people have Harry Potter tattoos, especially Deathly Hallows symbols. I mean, I know Harry Potter is popular (I’ve read all the books and seen the movies, I enjoy them), but I didn’t realize people liked them to the point of getting a permanent reminder on their dermis. For some reason it seems too soon to me, but I guess the books have been out for quite a while. Another popular tattoo, particularly for females… peacocks and peacock feathers. Which is kind of funny since peacocks are male. Third, a crazy amount of people have owl tattoos. Though this has not discouraged me from wanting one of my own. Mine will be different from all the hundreds I’ve seen, since I didn’t really like any of the ones I viewed enough to want them for myself and I want to be an individual and have a unique tat.
