I don't sleep at night... no biggie.

If we were to wake up some morning and find that everyone was the same race, creed and color, we would find some other cause for prejudice by noon. ~ George Aiken

Sad, but most likely true. People love to hate.

I'm Jess. I live in Charleston, WV. I am a nurse on a neurological floor. I mostly care for older people that have had strokes or have other problems with their noggins. Some seizures, head trauma and spinal surgery too. Lately it's also been the satellite psych ward. I work night shift, so it's even more fun since the real crazies come out at night.

Things I learned in ACLS

So for work I had to take ACLS, aka Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support… if your heart starts doing funky things (like not beating), I now know how to go about attempting to fix it. I’m certified and everything.

Here are a couple helpful tid bits from my instructors…

Every dead person gets Epi. (epinephrine… synthetic adrenaline)

They’re not dead until they’re warm and dead.

When asked how fast you can IV push ACLS drugs… You can push as fast as you want because you can’t hurt dead.

(When doing chest compressions in CPR) If you don’t break any ribs, you’re not pushing hard enough.

When you give adenosine, don’t tell them that it’s going to feel “funny”… it HURTS! Some people describe it as if someone hit them in the chest or between the shoulder blades with a baseball bat.
