As a healthcare provider, when I watch television or movies that involve hospitals or anything medical I am very critical. Here’s one thing that a majority of shows/movies get wrong… they ‘shock’ (defibrillate) everyone! Last night at work I ended up with 6 patients. Not that big a deal, I’ve had that many before, but something one of my coworkers said kind of burned me. Tonight I have a patient with a really awesome and enviable history… schizoaffective disorder (schizophrenia plus a mood disorder, ie. depression), bipolar disorder, mild mental retardation, and psychogenic polydipsia. I’ve noticed something since I started working nights. Whenever I come into work at 7pm the nurses I get report from couldn’t be in more of a rush to give me a report so that they can leave. That’s fine, I get it, they were here for 12 hours and they are tired. The trouble I have is that when they arrive in the morning to get report from me, they take their sweet-ass time to come...

Bad Mood
So I moved to a new town almost six months ago.  It’s only 2.5 hours from where I used to live and when I first moved here I went back to visit very regularly.  After a couple months I was off orientation and started working nights (I’m a nurse).  All my friends have promised to visit me at one point or another, but not one has done so yet.   I have one friend that is down this way...
